Top Tourist Attractions in Egypt

Egypt is truly a tourist’s fantasy come true. There are not many places in the world that is filled with ancient temples, archaic tombs, glorious pyramids, lively market places and celebrated museums. If you are planning to go to Egypt, here are some of the top tour sites you should visit.

Giza

Egypt as we all know is the land of pyramids. And it has a multitude of it - more than 90 in number. The biggest of these is the one built at the place of current Giza for the emperor Khufu. This is also known as the Great Pyramid, and is in fact the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, that is still standing. Giza is also the place where you can find the world renowned Sphinx.

Cairo

This big city is the capital of Egypt. Popular attractions include the Khan al-Khalili market and the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Khan al-Khalili is said to be one of the biggest marketplaces in the world; it is a good place to buy Arabic stuff such as clothing, perfumes, food etc. The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities on the other hand is famous for containing a multitude of artifacts; a popular one is the Tutankhamun Gallery.

Luxor

If you like visiting museums, how about visiting this 4000 years old “open air museum” of early Egypt! You can also visit some awesome places nearby, such as the Temple of Luxor, Temple of Karnak, twin statues of Ramses II, mummification museum, and many other notable spots.

Alexandria

Set up by none other than Alexander the Great, this ancient city has a massive stretch of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea. This is a great place to get delicious seafood and also to visit historical places. Some of the popular spots to visit include Abu Mina, Sidi Abdel Rahman beach and Borg al-Arab.

Aswan

This one is a gorgeous town near the Nile. You can take a boat here and visit Agelika Island, where you can travel around the temple of Philae and enjoy some scrumptious dishes in the Nubian town.
